President of the Republic of Cabo Verde Welcomed in Saint-Fons

On Monday, February 2, 2026, the *Alliance Capverdienne de Lyon* had the honor of participating in the reception for His Excellency Mr. José Maria Pereira Neves, President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, during his visit to the Lyon region.

The event took place at the Saint-Fons Community Hall and was attended by members of the Cabo Verdean community, association leaders, institutional representatives, and many local residents.

The President’s visit was a significant occasion for connection and interaction with the Cabo Verdean diaspora living in the Lyon metropolitan area.

The gathering served to highlight the importance of the human, cultural, and historical ties that unite Cabo Verde with its communities abroad.

For the *Alliance Capverdienne de Lyon*, welcoming a high-ranking official from the Republic of Cabo Verde represents, once again, important recognition of the work carried out since 1993.

Since its founding, our association has been dedicated to preserving and passing on Cabo Verdean culture, promoting solidarity, supporting families, and building bridges between generations.

This meeting also gave the community an opportunity to share a moment of dialogue, unity, and pride, grounded in their shared roots.

We thank President José Maria Pereira Neves for his presence, as well as the volunteers, partners, elected officials, and everyone who contributed to the organization and success of this reception.
