Since 1993, the Cape Verdean Alliance of Lyon has aimed to promote and highlight Cape Verdean culture.
For 30 years, the association has carried out numerous solidarity projects in Cape Verde, supporting associations, people in need, and children through initiatives to provide school supplies and essential food items.

Independence Movement (20th Century)
Led by Amílcar Cabral, the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC) was formed in 1956. Following an armed struggle and the 1974 Carnation Revolution in Portugal, Cape Verde achieved independence on July 5, 1975.
